Harassment Accountability Act, SB 419, Passes Key Policy Committee

Sacramento, California – Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously passed SB 419, the Legislative Sexual Harassment Retaliation Prevention Act, with bi-partisan support. It is now headed to the full Senate Floor for a vote. SB 419 is authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D – La Cañada Flintridge and Senator Connie M. Leyva, D - Chino.

Senator Portantino Takes Business Walk in La Verne

Portantino’s SR 710 Rent Freeze Bill Signed by Governor Brown

Sacramento, CA – Today, Governor Brown signed SB 400 by Senator Anthony Portantino, D – La Cañada Flintridge, which requires Caltrans to freeze the rent of its tenants who participate in the “Affordable Rent Program” until January 1, 2020.

Sacramento, CA Today, the California State Senate passed SB 400 by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D – La Cañada Flintridge, which requires Caltrans to freeze the rent for SR 710 corridor tenants who participate in the “Affordable Rent Program.”  Decades ago, Caltrans purchased these homes to pave the way for the 710 freeway.

Governor Brown Signs Portantino’s Senate Bill Protecting Recipients of Acute Mental Health Services

Sacramento, CA – This week, Senate Bill 565, by Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), was signed and chaptered into law by Governor Brown. SB 565 requires a mental health facility, prior to a certification review hearing, to make reasonable attempts to notify family members or any other person designated by the patient of the exact time and place of the hearing at least 36 hours prior to the certification review hearing.
