Sacramento, California – Today, Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) honored the Homenetmen on their 100th anniversity at the California State Capitol.   The Homenetmen leadership and their scouts were recognized on the floor of the State Senate with a resolution from Senators Anthony Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge), Senator Kevin De León (D- Los Angeles) and Senator Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita). Similar recognitions were also conducted on the Assembly floor by Assemblymember Nazarian.

Sacramento, California- Yesterday, the California Legislature passed an important measure to continue the fight for a cleaner California. Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, serves on the budget committee which earlier in the day passed the bill on its way to the full Senate.   He is pleased by the outcome.

Portantino (D–La Cañada Flintridge) welcomed and honored Luke Walker and his family as the Small Business of the Year at the California State Capitol.  Each year, one business from each Senate District is recognized by the California Small Business Association.  Senator Portantino chose Luke Walker’s Barber Shop & Beauty Care shop from Pasadena as this year’s small business of the year. 

Sacramento, California- Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) is the Chair of the Senate Education Budget Sub-Committee with long and close ties to the Armenian American Community. In that capacity, he personally submitted two important education proposals on behalf of Armenian Californians into the California State Budget.

Sacramento, California- Today, SB 972 the suicide prevention legislation authored by Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, passed the Assembly Education Policy Committee.

Sacramento, California - California Senate President pro Tem Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, announced Portantino’s new assignment last Friday.  The Senate Rules Committee convened Monday, June 11th where Senator Portantino, D- La Cañada Flintridge, was formally appointed as the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Sacramento, California-  In May, the Summer Institute for Emerging Managers and Leaders, also known as SIEML, held its seventh successful summer program for 50 undergrad students from historically black colleges and Hispanic-serving institutions at University of California, Berkeley.

Sacramento, California– SB 1266 passed the California State Senate. The author, Senator Anthony J. Portantino, D–La Cañada Flintridge, proposed SB 1266 to protect communities from residential burglaries by requiring ankle monitoring as a condition of payroll.
