SACRAMENTO – The Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee today passed legislation by Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, to improve protections for whistleblowers so they can keep their jobs while retaliation complaints against their employers are being investigated.

SACRAMENTO – With bipartisan support, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed an important bill authored by Senator Connie M. Leyva (D-Chino) that would give low income residents greater access to their medical records. 

Sacramento – A bill by Senator Bob Wieckowski (D-Fremont) to expand access to justice among indigent Californians by requiring attorneys to report to the State Bar the number of pro bono hours they have worked and the amount they have donated to legal aid organizations passed the Senate Judiciary Committee this afternoon.

Sacramento, CA – State Senator Mike McGuire has introduced legislation that significantly restricts pharmaceutical companies from giving incentives and gifts to medical professionals – a practice that has been widespread in California and throughout the United States. This practice has proven to result in medical professionals prescribing expensive and over-priced prescription drugs to their patients.

SACRAMENTO – The Senate Public Safety Committee today passed legislation by Sen. Bob Hertzberg, D-Van Nuys, to prevent the automatic suspension of driver’s licenses for people who are unable to pay fines or fees for minor traffic tickets and require courts to determine violators’ ability to pay before setting fine amounts.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – A package of legislation aimed at assisting California Veterans and their families with reentry, education and access to social services cleared a major hurdle today in the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee. The committee voted on Senate Bills 694, 747 and 776 respectively.
